The National Museum is a must see place in Male situated in the Sultan's Park. The museum is set on the remaining structure of the previous Sultan's Palace. The National Museum exhibits thrones, palanquins, statues, printing press and many other antique articles used by former Sultans. The National Museum in Male consists of hosts of items of pre colonial and colonial era showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Maldives. The moment you enter into the museum, it will take you back to the memory lane. On Friday and national holidays, the National Museum remains close and on remaining days it opens from 9:00 am to 11:40 am and from 3:00 pm to 5:40 pm.


The Friday Mosque or Huskuru Miskiiy is the grand and principal mosque in Maldives and includes the Islamic Center. This 17th century structure displays the grand architecture of bygone times. With its eminent golden dome, the Friday Mosque is playing an impressive role almost through the four centuries. The mosque can house more than five thousand people at a time. In the year of 1656, this spectacular landmark was built by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar. The magnificent coral engraving, wooden doors and grand minarets of the mosque edify the importance of the Friday mosque in the history and the rich heritage of the country.


Male Fish Market is a prime commercial center of Male situated to the northern waterfront of Male. The place is always overcrowded with travelers and locals hovering on shops offering variety of products. The fish market and the local market of Male offer insight of the Maldives and also offer an opportunity to travelers to mingle with locals.


Visit Mulee-aage palace, built in 1906, located in front of the Friday Mosque and constructed by Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddeen III, which today is the office of the President. Male is the capital of Maldives and offers hosts of places to see including the Sultan Park near the National Museum, Islamic Center and local markets.
