Gulmarg is actually an adventure destination in the remote Himalayas located in Jammu and Kashmir. With the highest Golf Course on earth and premier ski resorts, Gulmarg keeps drawing huge number of enthusiasts every year. But hardly anyone prefers shopping in Gulmarg.
If you are keen on shopping in Gulmarg, Travel.mapsofindia suggests you should better shop in Srinagar. Srinagar is the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and only 56kms away from Gulmarg.
Jammu and Kashmir region otherwise has a tremendously rich tradition of handicrafts and handlooms. Hand-woven silk fabric and shawls of this region are hot favorite items in the world over.The intricate embroidery work on the Kashmiri shawls is a must buy while shopping in Srinagar.
Also check out other traditional crafts that include cane and bamboo work, metal-crafts etc. Many of these crafts have gone places and earned worldwide fame. do not forget to pick up some Brass and Silverware, willow baskets, artifacts made of papier-mâché and woolen garments while shopping in Srinagar.
There are many shopping joints in Srinagar, which would substitute for the lack of good shopping in Gulmarg. Hang out at Lal Chowk, Badshah Chowk and Polo View area. Explore the great variety the shops offer. Do not mind a little bit of bargaining.
